My interview was not as casual as some mentioned below, though still friendly. The interviewer read through a list of questions. Every single one was documented in the posts below. Here are those I remember:
- Why MBA?
- Why now?
- Why Duke?
- Please tell me about a time that you failed.
- What motivates you?
- How would you handle a situation in which a team member is not pulling his/her weight?
- What’s your leadership style?
- Tell me about your favorite boss. Why did you like him/her?
- What accomplishment are you most proud of?
- Please tell me about a time you went above and beyond.
The biggest thing the interviewer stressed was teamwork, so be sure to have good examples ready to go.
Also, for men, I would estimate that 60-70% of the interviewees were actually dressed “business casual.” I felt that I was in the minority in a suit and tie. So a suit, no tie, a sport coat and slacks, or even a tie and sweater combo would be fine. The students were also very casually dressed in the class I attended, much more so than I expected from a top business school.
