You are greeted with a t-shirt and a packet of information related to your interests. For myself it was Entertainment and Stern Women in Business. My interviewer came out a few minutes late to greet me, a member of the AdCom, and we made small talk on our way to the office about my trip to NYC.
The interviewer started out by asking me about one of my interests listed on my resume. From there the interview became more like a job interview with very directed questions:
- Tell me about your job progression
- what are your strengths/weaknesses
- Why MBA now?
- Short-term/Long-term goals
- if you were in an IBanking interview (my short term goal) how would you convince them that you were right for the position – this question caught me a little off guard
- what excites you about Stern?
- how would you contribute to the Stern community?
- what would you do if you couldn’t get the summer internship you wanted?
- questions for her
Overall I feel is though it went ok. It was less conversational than other interviews I’ve had and felt much more like a job interview, which surprised me since Stern has a “Down to Earth’ mentality. I was told I would find out in approximately 3 weeks (not necessarily before teh Feb. 15th notification deadline).
Good luck and hope this helps!
