I received an invitation to interview on February 7th, roughly two weeks after having submitted my application.
I was given the choice to interview with a second year student or an alumni. For convenience, I chose to interview with an alumni who lives near to me. The university has a great system for contacting and coordinating with alumni to set up an interview; I was able to contact someone quickly and had an interview scheduled within one week. The interview itself was very conversational, it took place over lunch and the interviewer was gracious and accommodating. I was told by the interviewer that there were four questions that the university required him to ask of me. As best I can remember, the only questions which were asked are listed below.
- Walk me through your resume
- How did you find your current job?
- What are your responsibilities?
- What do you most / least like about your current position?
- What is the weakest part of your application?
- What are post-MBA goals?
- How will McCombs help you achieve those goals?
I felt that more than anything the interviewer wanted to get a feel for who I was and how I presented myself.
