Submitted application on 1/23, invited to interview on 2/8. US, non-Texas applicant.
This was probably my most relaxed b-school interview yet (fourth one) – I nearly ended up in tears of laughter, which was completely unexpected. I chose to interview on-campus in Austin and since I interviewed on a Friday, my interview was with an AdCom member – not a second-year like I was told. Much of the focus and crux of the interview was atypical from the usual – in that there were no “Tell me about a time when…” questions or questions on leadership/teamwork… but the nature was friendly, relaxed and casual.
- 1. Tell me about yourself, where are you from, what did you do in college and even in high school if you can remember that far?
- 2. Why did you chose your undergrad institution?
- 3. Tell me about your internships in college?
- 4. Did you have a senior project or a senior thesis – and what was it about?
- 5. Is there anything you would do differently when you think about your college experience?
- 6. Why an MBA? (talked about goals here so that did question didn’t come up later)
- 7. Why Texas?
- 8. What sort of internship opportunity are you looking for after your first year and with whom?
- 9. Is there anything you’re not looking forward to about business school?
- 10. What keeps you busy?
- 11. Any questions for me?
