The following Stanford MBA interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 1 applicant.
We had to wrangle schedules because I was out of the country but when we met he was very pleasant. The interview was casual. He gave me a brief background about himself and then he asked me questions from a list he had. He was taking notes while I was talking.
These are the questions he asked:
– Tell me about a time you felt you were effective.
– Tell me about a time when you felt blocked from achieving a goal and how you reacted.
– Tell me about a time when you led or were on a team with difficult people.
– Tell me about a time you saw an opportunity or a problem that no one else saw.
He asked follow up questions such as “how was the way you acted different from how others acted” or “why were your actions effective in this situation.” Overall, it was conversational and casual. I asked him a few questions about his background and his experience at GSB at the end of the interview. It was a very pleasant exchange and I was glad that the school had selected an interviewer who had had a career path change similar to the one I aim to make. I was surprised, though, that he didn’t ask me any questions like “Why MBA?” or “Why Stanford?”
