The following Columbia Business School MBA Admissions interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by an Early Decision applicant who has been accepted to Columbia Business School. Congratulations to them!
My interview was genuinely pleasant. After corresponding with one of the alums provided by the school, we set up the time and date for a couple of weeks after my notification. The interview occurred in a local coffee shop near the interviewer’s office and was very relaxed and conversational.
Total interview lasted about 45 minutes to 1 hour. The interview started with my interviewer giving a 5-10 minute overview of her background, experience pre- & post- CBS, and a little about her time at CBS. Following this introduction and background, she asked some of the typical questions, but mainly in a conversational manner:
Tell me a little bit about yourself
Why Columbia/Why MBA,
Career Goals,
Back-up plan to career goals (I had a well reasoned back-up that paralleled).
Our discussion on the interview questions lasted about 20-25 minutes. Following the questions, she gave me an opportunity to ask her any questions I had, which resulted in another conversational exchange about more of her experiences and thoughts on CBS and many of the great things about the school.
Following the interview, I got a notice that night, indicating that the interview report had been submitted. A couple of weeks later, I received the wonderful call from the Admissions office informing me that I had been offered admissions.
I would strongly encourage finding someone who you can relate to as your interviewer.
