The following NYU / Stern Executive MBA interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 1 applicant who was admitted. Congratulations!
This interview experience was for the NYU Executive MBA Program. Since there is little information about EMBA’s out there, I hope to be able to help other prospective EMBA students. The interview was with the adcom and it was part of the mandatory pre-application process NYU has – where you submit a small questionnaire and most recent resume. The atmosphere was relaxed and in their admissions office. Questions were:
1. Tell me about your current role
2. Walk me through your resume
3. Why do you want to pursue an EMBA?
4. What is your short/long term career goals
5. Tell me about a developmental area
6. What do you like to do outside of work?
After the questions, the adcom walked me through various materials and took any questions I had.
The conversation flowed naturally and the adcom was very personable and quickly built a good rapport. They took a lot of notes throughout. None of the questions were surprising if you downloaded the ClearAdmit NYU MBA guide, those questions were applicable for the EMBA interview process as well.
The key thing that they were looking for was a well thought-out story of why NYU, how does it apply to your short/long term goals (adding in classes, activities, professors), and that there is substance to you outside of work. Weaving in your background and personal experiences I think is key.
Ten days after I submitted my formal application I was accepted into their program.
