The following Berkeley / Haas interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 1 applicant who was admitted. Congratulations to them!
I was paired with a recent alum (’14) with a similar background in international development. She had only reviewed my résumé, and asked me pretty standard get-to-know-you questions at the onset.
We talked through my career and community leadership experience thus far, and then jumped right to “Why Haas?” She prodded specifically at which classes I wanted to take right away and which seemed like they’d be the most challenging given my non-traditional background. She then challenged me, making the argument that business school doesn’t make a lot of sense given my career path so far, and spent a good chunk of time teasing out my thought process.
She was very positive and affirming throughout the interview, making it clear I was giving answers that she liked or made sense to her given her own experience. At the end, I asked her about her extracurricular experience and the hiring process post-grad. It was a great, very human, and very predictable interview given my more unorthodox experience. At the end, it resulted in an admit!
