The following Michigan / Ross MBA interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 1 applicant.
Ross put on by far the most holistic interview day experience. The night before the event, they hold a welcome dinner with fellow admitted students. While the networking is interesting, I would suggest skipping this if you are coming in from out of town, as there are no admissions personnel present and interviews start bright and early the next morning at 8AM.
The entire admissions staff gives presentations throughout the morning, followed by two rounds of student-run individual interviews. These interviews are very much by the books, but note that there is an unstated emphasis on the questions that applicants ask to the interviewers, as mentioned by several adcoms post-interview.
Following the individual interview, the group went together to a campus pizza restaurant to conduct an optional team interview. This was nothing to stress about if you are comfortable working on teams. The activity consists of building a story using random words assigned to the team and pitching it to a hypothetical manager. Overall, the effort put into the program by Ross is impressive, and it is very clear that they care about getting to know the people they’re considering admitting.
