The following Northwestern / Kellogg interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 2 applicant. Good luck to them!
I interviewed with an alumna from the class of 2009 at a Starbucks in the Hartford, CT area. I had emailed her a copy of my résumé, which she looked over beforehand (I also gave her a paper copy in person). She was super friendly and kept the tone of the interview very conversational, which was a welcome surprise. The questions were mostly pretty standard, in roughly the following order:
– Why MBA at this moment and why Kellogg?
– Expand on leadership skills that you’re looking to develop? How would you describe your leadership style?
– Emphasized team based-environment at Kellogg and asked what I enjoyed about working in teams and what are the challenges?
– What would my colleagues describe as three strengths and three weaknesses that I bring to a group? How does this differ from what my manager would say?
– Given my analytical background, what’s my experience level with PowerPoint/presentation programs?
– What other programs have I applied to?
There was nothing that came out of left field, and like I said it definitely felt pretty casual, with the interviewer seeming to relate to a lot of my answers. There was a lot of time left over for questions, and we talked at length about different aspects of Kellogg (classes, career center, clubs, travel experiences, housing). I came away from the experience with a renewed positive impression of the school.
