The following NYU / Stern interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 1 applicant who was admitted. Congratulations to them!
I interviewed in early December, on campus for Stern. I arrived 5 minutes before my scheduled interview (I did not plan my subway trip timing correctly) and my interview started on time with an Adcom member. She was very friendly and the whole interview felt like a mixture of a job interview and a conversation. The interviewer definitely knows your profile before the interview, I mentioned something that I had brought up in my personal expression essay and she commented on something else she had read in my essay as well.
Some of the questions I was asked were:
1. Talk about your experience/résumé.
2. Why MBA? Why Stern?
3. Why a career change?
4. What are your hobbies?
5. What specific class will benefit you the most?
6. What is your proudest accomplishment in your current role?
7. If I asked your manager what you could be doing more of what would they say?
The whole thing last just over 30 minutes (I asked questions that made us run long) and had a very friendly atmosphere to it which was in line with what I had been expecting based on the information here and Stern’s emphasis on community.
I waited a little over a month for a response and was admitted.
