The following Stanford MBA interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 1 applicant.
Was thrilled to receive a Stanford interview invite. Scheduled the interview for the same week I received the invite. Stanford gives you the name and contact info to reach out and set up the interview directly, so you can research them a bit beforehand. You’re instructed to send the alum a copy of your resume as well, which is all they have to go off of.
My interview was conducted at a country club and was very relaxed. The interviewer was extremely nice, and she noted that she sees herself as an advocate for everyone she interviews. She took a lot of notes and seemed to have either a list of questions or certain traits she was told to ask me about.
Since so many of the questions were tailored to my résumé / background, it’s difficult to give a list of questions, but here were some (very typical interview questions):
– Why [current company]?
– [Questions like tell me more about X experience and pretty in-depth follow-up/probing questions]
– Why MBA? Why Stanford?
– Did you ever have a challenging situation working as a leader of a team?
– Was there a time you faced difficulty as a leader?
I was unfortunately dinged.
