The following Michigan / Ross interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 2 applicant. Good luck to them!
I really enjoyed my interview day at Ross, but the actual interview was a bit hard to read. First, my interviewer took copious notes on his laptop. He explained that he was trying to capture everything that I presented, which is great, but it also had the effect that we never made much eye contact and he didn’t react to what I was saying. So, be prepared for that, and try not to let it mess up your flow.
Questions:
– Why do you want an MBA?
– Why is now the right time?
– Why do you think Ross is the right place?
– Why do you go to X job after college?
– What has been your biggest professional success?
– If someone wrote a newspaper headline about you, what would it say?
Then we went to my questions, which felt really early. I was surprised not to be asked about my long-term or short-term goals. The team exercise was very straight-forward, and it would be silly to stress about it. At that point, it’s nice just to relax and play around with this word challenge. The best stories had some humor in them. The best advice I can give is to pay attention to the time elapsed and use it wisely to leave enough to plan your presentation, etc.
