The following U. Chicago Booth interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 2 applicant. Good luck to them!
I had my interview with a local alum in my home city, and it was held in the conference room of his workplace building. My interviewer was a recent graduate of Booth, so our conversation was pleasantly laid back and very casual. While the interview itself was technically blind (résumé only), he did offer brief feedback on what the admissions readers had mentioned regarding a few aspects of my application. Because my professional background is in a fairly quantitative field of finance, we actually spent most of the time discussing my personal background, which was surprising in a positive way.
Questions that came up included:
-How do you spend your time outside of work?
-What are your long-term personal goals?
-What are your core values?
-How would you contribute to the campus community?
-Why an MBA (beyond the academic aspect)?
-What are your perceptions of Chicago Booth?
-Have you experienced failures or setbacks in the past?
-Is there anything else you want to convey that we haven’t covered yet?
At the end, he left plenty of time for questions from me, and the overall tone was very conversational, which I definitely appreciated. Our interview lasted for a good hour and 15 minutes or so, and I came away with a positive impression of the school and the caliber of students who go there.
