The following Yale SOM interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 2 applicant. Good luck to them!
Attended Yale’s super interview day last week. The entire day was very well planned and a great event. Programming included a class, welcome by the dean, student panel over lunch, tour or school and/or campus, interview, and cocktail hour. The cocktail hour at the end of the day was a great opportunity to network. They also held the Economic Development Symposium the same day and waived attendance fee for prospective students who were interested in attending.
I applied through the Consortium and unlike most other students who were being interviewed by a second year student I was interviewed by an adcom member who is responsible for diversity inclusion.
Questions asked included:
1. Walk me through your résumé. Followed by a question as to what ties my past experiences together. (I have worked in both profit and nonprofit and 3 different industries.)
2. Asked me if I was learning what I had hoped to learn by changing jobs in the last year.
3. Can you tell me about a time you dealt with diversity within a team?
4. What skills are unique to you in dealing with diversity?
5. Why MBA and why now?
6. Why Yale?
7. Long and short term goals?
8. Is there anything else you would like Yale to know about you?
9. Questions for me
Overall I thought the super interview day was a great experience to learn more about the Yale SOM program and culture. The Interview was shorter than I expected lasting maybe 20-30 minutes.
