The following Yale SOM interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 2 applicant. Good luck to them!
I attended Yale’s first Super Interview Day of Round 2. The interview was part of a full day that included a SOM tour, a full Yale campus tour, a presentation from Dean Snyder, a faculty presentation, student panel, and closing reception. Interviews were scheduled throughout the day, starting at 9 AM and ending around 3:30 PM, spaced 45 minutes apart. I was surprised at how many applicants were in attendance (roughly 60) but also with how well all the applicants got along – it made for a very relaxed and collaborative environment.
A second-year SOM student conducted my (blind) interview and seemed well prepared for it. The questions were mostly straightforward:
– Tell me about your current position
– Have you had to overcome any cultural differences in your job?
– Why now for your MBA?
– What do you want to do after graduating?
– Anything else about yourself that you would like the Adcom to know?
– Any questions for me?
Overall a very good experience. Yale remained very organized throughout the day despite a surprise snow storm hitting the area that morning. Applicants should head into their interviews at ease knowing that Yale is just trying to get to know you and your goals a little better.
