The following Harvard Business School interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 2 applicant. Good luck to them!
My interview followed the typical HBS format (2 interviewers: both members of the AdCom, one had read my application and one had only seen my CV; the interview lasted 30 minutes)- and I was asked very conventional questions:
1) Why did you transition from science to investing
2) Explain what your company does in plain language
3) What are your strengths/weaknesses
4) What do you do in your free time
5) Why do you want to do an MBA?
I did get asked multiple questions under each of these sub-headings that were very tailored to my background.
In terms of interview style: I was asked questions in a rapid fire manner- and had both interviewers ask questions at the same time. It felt like the interviewers were trying to assess both how quickly you could think on your feet and how you handled someone interrupting and disagreeing with you. I also got the sense they were looking for concise answers- as they want to be able to squeeze in 15-20 questions.
I was surprised that interviewers weren’t blank-faced, as I’d been told they would be: they frowned, laughed and definitely reacted!
