The following Michigan / Ross MBA interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 2 applicant who was admitted. Congratulations to them!
So, my interview with Ross with an alumnus off-campus. Scheduling an interview was convenient as Ross uses an online interview scheduling system. We arranged a meeting at a Starbucks on a weekend. The interviewer was very accommodating in scheduling an interview.
I wore a suit while the interviewer was in a collared shirt and trousers. The interview was informal. The interviewer worked as a consultant. Ross sends many of their students into consultancy.
The interviewer spoke about their past with a brief introduction. He did have a copy of my résumé in front of him. He looked at my résumé, and started to ask questions. This is the only information that they had.
First question: Tell me about yourself. I chose to speak briefly about my personal history and then on to professional history.
From there, the interviewer asked about why I am pursuing an MBA, specifically at Ross.
The interviewer asked why I would be a good fit for Ross.
He asked about post-MBA plans, strengths, weaknesses, and the biggest challenges that I would face while at the MBA program.
Then the interviewer asked if I had questions for him.
Great experience, super casual, and the interviewer was incredibly passionate about Ross. Ross was lower on my list, but moved up given the passion of the interviewer in discussing the community and exciting things going on at Ross. Although he had graduated several years ago, he knew of all of the activity going on at Ross.
I got in! Now on to decisions.
