The following Duke / Fuqua interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Early Action Round applicant. Good luck to them!
The interview was very conversational, much like everyone has said about it. I liked that it was with a 2nd second year student because the questions came more naturally and it was nice to get a student’s perspective at the end when asking questions.
The interviewer greeted me in the lobby and took me up to the interview room.
After some small talk, we dove into the interview. The student had a sheet of paper she was using as her guide. Some of the questions were:
- Tell me a little about yourself (she first shared a little about herself, so I followed a similar format in my response)
- Why Fuqua?
- What makes a good leader?
- Describe a time you’ve given/received feedback.
- Describe a successful team you’ve been on.
- What does Team Fuqua mean to you?
There might of been a couple of more questions, but we had natural conversations in between each response. Honestly, all of the questions were ones I had seen posted here or other places online. Of course, there were some I made up in the moment, but for the most part I had rehearsed answers for almost all the questions. She left about 10 minutes for me to ask questions and then took me back downstairs to the lobby.
Overall I think it went well and again, I really enjoyed that Fuqua incorporates students so heavily into the recruiting process.
