The following Stanford GSB interview questions and report were submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 2 applicant. Good luck to them!
The interview was blind, the interviewer only having a copy of my résumé which I emailed to him in advance. He was fairly flexible in allowing me to choose a time that worked best for the interview. I met him at his office and we spoke for just over an hour in one of the board rooms.
He didn’t give much background detail on himself, and jumped into a bit of an explanation of the interview (its purpose, format, style of questions, what kind of information he is looking for). Basically, he explained that he was looking for how I reacted to situations and that it was 1 data point in the entire application process.
Questions regarded:
- Greatest accomplishment.
- Describe what you learned at X job on your résumé .
- Why Stanford?
- What are your takeaways from Y extracurricular involvement?
The interviewer “interrupted” casually many times along the way to ask for details or follow-up questions. At the end, there was a little bit of time for me to ask him questions, where he shared more about himself and why the MBA experience was so valuable for him. It made me even more excited at the prospect of a “yes” at the end. He was very friendly, and overall, I really enjoyed our chat.
