The following Northwestern / Kellogg interview questions and report were submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 1 applicant. Good luck to them!
My interviewer met me promptly at the designated time in a Starbucks in downtown Chicago. I wore a suit but he said he meant to tell me I could just wear whatever I wore to work. He also had copies of my résumé printed off, but I brought copies too just in case. He started out the interview by saying that he wanted the conversation to be very relaxed and to not feel pressure, and that his goal was just to learn more about me and be a “mouthpiece” for me to the adcom. He then told me about his background and his career, as well as his time at Kellogg.
He then began asking me questions:
1. Walk me through your résumé.
2. He asked for more detail on a specific client I had worked with that I highlighted in my résumé.
3. Why an MBA? Why now? Why Kellogg?
4. What extracurriculars are you interested in at Kellogg?
5. Tell me about a time that you’ve had to deliver bad news or feedback to someone.
6. Tell me about a time when you’ve had bad news or feedback given to you.
7. Tell me about a time when you’ve had to lead a difficult team.
8. If you don’t get into an MBA program, what is your backup plan?
9. What do you do for fun outside of work?
10. Do you have any questions for me?
Overall, there really wasn’t anything I didn’t expect. The interview lasted about 40 minutes and consisted almost entirely of the types of behavioral and motivation questions I had prepared for. I feel confident that I put my best foot forward, I just hope it effectively displayed my fit with the program. Kellogg is my top choice, so it’s going to be a long wait to hear back in December.
