Thanks to its demonstrated commitment to diversity in business education, the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) named the Ohio State University Fisher College of Business its Education Partner of the Year. The award—recognizing Fisher’s support of the NBMBAA for the past 24 years—was presented during the annual NBMBAA conference in Philadelphia. Seventy-five Fisher graduate and undergraduate students were in attendance.

This is the second time that the NBMBAA has recognized OSU Fisher. It was first honored in 1999 as the Most Outstanding Educational Institution of the Year.

“Our partnership with the National Black MBA Association is a critical component to ensuring that all of our students—our future leaders—are equipped with the skills, insights, and support to reach back, give back, and empower others to make positive and lasting impacts in their communities and our world,” Fisher Dean Anil Makhija said in a university news release. “To be recognized for our longstanding collaboration with an organization whose mission and purpose aligns so closely with ours is an incredible honor.”

Over the course of OSU Fisher’s partnership with NBMBAA, the school has provided more than $400,000 scholarships to NBMBAA members. Fisher has also provided financial support to more than 600 graduate and undergraduate students to attend the NBMBAA national conference and to another 500 students to cover registration fees. Across the country, eight OSU alumni have served as NBMBAA chapter presidents.

In addition, OSU Fisher is one of the few schools in the nation to host a NBMBAA Undergraduate Student Chapter. And in 2008 and 2014, the school also hosted the Leaders of Tomorrow National Case Competition, which brought in hundreds of minority high school students from across the country.

“Fisher College of Business has consistently demonstrated leadership in preparing tomorrow’s leaders by partnering with NBMBAA to further our mission of eliminating economic disparities in minority communities via education and job creation,” said Jesse Tyson, NBMBAA CEO and an OSU alumnus.
