The following MIT Sloan interview questions and report were submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 2 applicant. Good luck to them!
Since I utilized prior interview reports on this site I feel inclined to pay it forward and share my experiences.
My interview was extremely straightforward and exactly what I suspected. The only two things that surprised me were:
1) How informal it was, it was conducted in the office of my interviewer complete with family photos and coffee mugs 🙂
2) Ho transparent my interviewer was. She explained the entire process and exactly what happens after our interviewer. She said it was her job to be my advocate.
Questions were super straightforward.
1) Tell me about anything that has changed since your application. I had provided new information and she alluded that she already knew the answer but wanted me to explain it.
2) Tell me about a time you influenced someone? She seemed to be receptive to my answer but asked for a second example when I received more resistance.
3) Tell me about a time you motivated a team?
4) Why MBA – I answered this one and transitioned into why Sloan specifically without being prompted which she seemed okay with. I think it was going to be her next question anyways.
5) Any questions for me – This part functioned as more of a discussion – we talked about –
– MIT Media Lab and courses Sloan students can enroll in
– How students can get involved with Sloan’s recruiting efforts
– Any limitations on countries students can travel to for action learning labs
– Any clubs you wished more students were involved with.
Highly pleasant experience. My interviewer was appropriately friendly but maintained necessary diplomacy.
In summary – I was surprised how much time we took to cover so few questions. I was clearly the last one to make it to the lunch afterwards that suggested my interview took longer than anyone else’s. Don’t know if that means anything.
