The following Berkeley / Haas interview questions and report were submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 1 applicant. Good luck to them!
I participated in the Round 1 interview day on campus. Overall it was a great day, there were roughly 75 applicants. The school organized 5 hours worth of activities, we were subdivided into 4 interview time slots. There were ample opportunities to meet with current students and ask questions. Haas’ culture really shinned through. It’s truly a student driven program and everything seems to revolve around the defining principles. I could definitely see the benefits of a small program after this visit.
For the interview, we were all paired with a recent alumni or second-year student. They almost always worked in our industry. They had a script of behavioral interview questions. My interviewer told me that Haas was trying to standardize the interview process. He would occasionally throw in a follow-on question, or it would turn conversational. Some of the questions:
-How would you handle a conflict amongst a team of MBA students?
-Which defining principle do you most embody?
-How would others describe you, do you act differently around your coworkers/friends?
-Greatest weakness?
-What accomplishment are you most proud of?
-Why Haas?
-Short-term/long-term goals?
-Do you have any questions for me?
My interviewer was a nice guy; he kept it laid back. He also provided me with his honest thoughts on the program, which I appreciated. I felt that I did well, but nearly all of the interviewees had this impression.
