The following NYU / Stern interview questions and report were submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 2 MBA applicant. Good luck to them!
Once you schedule an interview, you have access to signing up for a class visit and lunch with a current student. I would recommend doing at least lunch before your interview. Helped give me a sense of the culture and gave me something to reference in my interview. The whole experience was very friendly and personalized (they give you a packet with info for all of the clubs you showed interest in and a t-shirt!) and it seems that they really just want to get to know you. Questions are pretty standard and they know your whole application and reference it throughout.
Questions
The interview started with something along the lines of “walk me through your job history, the main things you learned in each position, and how the transitions happened.” Know your application and be able to talk about your career goals specifically and clearly. We talked for 30 minutes exactly. Some questions that stuck out:
“What would your coworkers say is the best and the worst thing about working with you?”
“What specific resources will you use at Stern to achieve these career goals?”
“If you didn’t get a position at a company in this industry, what would you do?”
“What do you like to do outside of work?”
“If you could teach any class, not necessarily MBA-related, what would it be?”
“What surprised you most about Stern?”
“What is the most important thing for you in an MBA program?”
She said they usually get back to you within 3 weeks.
Overall, very friendly and informative day. A lot of students reminded me that Stern accepts a good percentage of students they interview so the odds are in your favor! Good luck everyone!
