The visit was pretty fun, Haas and Berkeley in general are pretty nice considering the absurdly dense population of the San Francisco Bay area. The interview experience was really quite standard – my interviewer grabbed me from the MBA office and we went to a small study room to chat. He introduced himself and was friendly and conversational throughout.
It lasted about 45 minutes, a bit longer than the others who started at the same time… most likely because we had a good dialogue and I was a bit long on some of my responses. At the end he opened up for questions for about 10 minutes.
Questions
- Walk me through your resume.
- What do you want to get out of an MBA and why is Haas the right school for you?
- What is a weakness you have? Something related to personal traits or habits, not a lack of skill.
- What experience do you have working with people of diverse backgrounds? What have you done to promote diversity and inclusion?
- Tell me about a stressful personal or work-related situation, how you handled it, and what you learned from it.
- Tell me about a time you had an unpopular opinion or view within a group and what you did.
- Tell me about a good leader you’ve had and what made them stand out.
Overall a great experience, though truly nothing unique about it once you’ve done an interview or two.
