I had a great experience visiting and interviewing at Georgetown. I interviewed on February 27, 2020, and the interview was blind. Let me start by saying that everybody on campus is super nice. Every building I entered had people opening the door for me. I shared this observation with somebody and they told me it is due to their Jesuit values.

The Admissions Office is located on the 3rd floor and I had no difficulty finding it. I was greeted by a nice and talkative lady on the front desk. My interview was with a 2nd year Student Ambassador, and we started and ended right on time. My interviewer was super friendly but professional. I felt like we connected immediately. She asked me the following questions:

  • Walk me through your resume.
  • Why an MBA? Why Now? Why Georgetown McDonough?
  • Can you give me an example of dealing with difficult people?
  • Tell me about a time you had to make an unpopular decision.
  • What is the one thing that will prevent you from enrolling at the school?

My interviewer only asked me 4-5 questions that I answered very thoroughly. I believe I was only asked 2 behavioral questions, which was surprising to me because other schools asked me a lot more. We had a great and enjoyable conversation. In the end, she allowed me to ask her questions. I was very impressed by how passionate she was about Georgetown. I believe I asked her how she has grown since she has joined McDonough and what the program’s biggest drawback is.

Overall, I had a great experience. I interviewed at 3 other schools and this was one of my favorite interviews. In the end, she was even able to take a few minutes and show me around their building. I greatly appreciated that, as it shows how much she cared about recruiting potential students. The interview happened during their midterm week and although there were not many MBA students around, I was still able to get a sense of the school.

My advice to potential candidates is just to be yourself. Georgetown is looking for people whose interests and goals align with their mission, so it is very important to make it clear to them. The school is a great fit for me so I am very excited to have applied.

I am also happy to announce that I was admitted today in their Full-time MBA Program!
