The University of California, Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business is located in the center of Southern California’s Tech Coast. This edition of Real Humans: MBA Students introduces new members of their MBA Class of 2022.
Half of the MBA class at UCI Merage are women. A third of the student body is comprised of international students. Merage MBAs have an average age of 29 and earned an average of five years of work experience before matriculating. During their undergraduate years, they averaged a GPA of 3.43. Thirty percent had earned degrees in science and 20 percent in humanities/social sciences. Fifteen percent had studied business/commerce and 13 percent each pursued majors in engineering or economics. When it came time to take the GMAT, the class averaged a score of 671.
In regards to industry background, 16 percent of the latest Merage MBA class had worked in pharma/healthcare/biotech. Fourteen percent each came from government or tech roles. Another 12 percent had worked in consumer products before heading to the MBA program. Eleven percent each earned pre-MBA work experience in entertainment/media or finance. Ten percent joined from the consulting industry, 7 percent from manufacturing and 5 percent from real estate.
