Interviewed with an alum over Zoom on Feb 9, 2022 for Round 2. They had access to my resume, but not my application. They asked questions for ~30 minutes and I asked questions for another ~15 mins. They asked:
• Walk me through your professional experience.
• Short-term and long-term goals?
• Why McCombs?
• Why an MBA? Do you need an MBA to obtain your goals?
• What are the strongest and weakest parts of your application?
• What have you learned about yourself in this process?
• What other schools have you applied to and where does McCombs rank for you?
• What are the top 3 companies you’re looking at that recruit from McCombs?
• Specific questions related to my current industry. For example, what do you think are the top challenges facing my industry and how would you help solve them?
The interview felt casual overall and the interviewer was generous in sharing their experiences at McCombs. I could tell that the alum asked a mix of preset questions the admissions office wanted asked as well as some he customized to my industry. I was surprised by the industry-specific questions since I didn’t see a ton of those questions in past interview reports for McCombs. But the other questions asked were pretty standard.
