Why did you make the decision to attend business school? Why now?
I get this question asked a lot since I came straight out of undergrad. I chose to get my MBA now because I know the impact on the workforce I can have in the future.
Why did you choose OSU Fisher? What factors figured most prominently into your decision of where to attend?
The class sizes were small which meant more interpersonal connections with not just my cohort but with my professors, and the huge networking base.
What do you think is your most valuable or differentiating contribution to the Class of 2024?
How different I see things from my classmates. Being one of the youngest in the cohort and one of three African Americans in the class, I went through a different path of life that other people in the cohort haven’t really experienced. We’ve had so many personal conversations already and I’m just happy that I can teach them as much as they are teaching me.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that didn’t get included on your application:
I run track and field and I am in the process of getting on the track team while doing my MBA.
Post-MBA career interests:
Marketing Management with either Google, Microsoft, Louis Vuitton, or Nike Consultant with Accenture or Deloitte
Advice for Current Prospective Applicants:
—Apply early and interact with your cohort early because you are going to be with them every day for the next 2 years and beyond. Have fun with the application process. It can be stressful to wait, but the wait is worth it when the acceptance comes. I can still remember my heart racing and the joy on my face the day I received my acceptance to Fisher.
–What is one thing you would absolutely do again as part of your application process?
The interview with Fisher was my favorite part. It went so well, and it felt natural. That’s how I knew it was meant for me to be a part of the Fisher community.
–What is one thing you would change or do differently?
Apply earlier.
–What is one part you would have skipped if you could—and what helped you get through it?
Nothing. I genuinely enjoyed the process.
What is your initial impression of the OSU Fisher students/culture/community?
Very welcoming; everyone is so supportive and understanding.
What is one thing you have learned about OSU Fisher that has surprised you?
How many people are here without a business degree. I thought most of the candidates would have a business background but it’s not a necessity to have a business degree or background. A lot of people are here to do a career pivot.
What is one thing you are most anxious about in your first year?
Taking Finance, Economics, and Accounting in the same semester. I’m not terrible at the subjects; they just take a lot of time for me to comprehend.
What is one thing you are most excited about in your first year?
It’s between working on our next case competition or the NBMBAA event in Atlanta.
Has the COVID-19 pandemic affected your personal application or admissions process in any way? If so, how?
COVID-19 is the reason I switched to Business from Criminal Justice. I knew over the months of isolation that I wanted to go get my MBA, so I did the big switch, and 2 years post-decision, I couldn’t be happier.
