An award-winning teacher and researcher, Dr. Christian aspires to help people to be their best at work. He also aspires to create an inclusive culture that values the potential of human differences across various levels, including within his academic field, within his university and within the Organizational Behavior Area’s team of faculty, post-doctoral researcher and PhD students. Dr. Christian recently led the launch of UNC Kenan-Flagler’s newest Full-Time MBA concentration, Managing People and Organizations.
His goals with research, service and teaching are to create scientific and social impact. Administrative Science Quarterly, The Academy of Management Journal, The Journal of Applied Psychology, American Psychologist, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Personnel Psychology and The Journal of Management have published his research. He has also received research grants from the National Science Foundation and the John Templeton Foundation.
From the fundamental inquiry of whether leadership can be taught to the ever-relevant quest for the skills that employers seek, this episode covers an array of topics – from connecting students to impact, crafting a compelling narrative for MBA applicants, to contemplating the evolving significance of leadership in a world dominated by big data and artificial intelligence, and more.
