Oriane Lesiak, London Business School’s MBA Class of 2026

Age: 29 years
Hometown: Paris (France)
Undergraduate Institution and Major: The Sorbonne, Paris; Master’s degree in International Relations
Pre-MBA Work Experience: Manager at Deloitte in Consulting within the Financial Services Industry for 6.5 years

Why did you make the decision to attend business school? Why now?
Pursuing an MBA has always been a dream of mine. I’ve heard from many about how it’s a life-changing experience that transforms you personally and professionally, accelerates your career, and opens doors globally. Now felt like the right time to take the leap: I was ready to accelerate my growth and broaden my impact. The preparation was intense, but being at LBS, one of the world’s top MBA programs, makes it all worth it. Additionally, it was important to me to apply for scholarships. I’m honored to have been awarded the Forté Foundation scholarship, which recognizes women’s leadership in business and academic excellence.

Why did you choose LBS? What factors figured most prominently into your decision of where to attend?
I chose LBS because it felt like the perfect fit. The top-tier ranking and academic excellence were huge draws for me – LBS being recognized by recruiters among Europe’s top two MBA programs and in the world’s top five is a testament to its quality. But what really drew me in was the unmatched international diversity. I wanted to learn from and with people from all over the world, gaining perspectives that are invaluable in today’s global business environment. The two-year program gives me the time I need to truly transform my career path. And then there’s London: studying in the world’s financial capital is a dream come true. Conversations with alumni reinforced my decision; they spoke highly of LBS’s strong sense of community, commitment to diversity, and drive to impact the way the world does business and how business impacts the world. That’s exactly the environment I wanted to be a part of.

What do you think is your most valuable or differentiating contribution to the Class of 2026?
I believe my French perspective adds something special, especially since there are fewer than 10 French students in a global MBA cohort of 431 students. I’m also passionate about innovation and have experience in consulting, along with a global outlook shaped by my involvement with One Young World, known as the Davos forum for young leaders, and my education in international relations. I believe this will help me to bring fresh ideas to class discussions and group projects.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that didn’t get included on your application:
I’m an Agatha Christie fan, and it seems it was destined for me to study in the UK. Here’s hoping I can channel Hercule Poirot’s sharp wit to crack every business case that comes my way!

Post-MBA career interests:
With my background in consulting, I’m eager to evolve and take my career to the next level through the MBA. I want to build on my hard and soft skills to transition into a role where I can drive meaningful change. The MBA is the key to unlocking this transformation.

Advice for Current Prospective Applicants:
–What is one thing you would absolutely do again as part of your application process?
Connect with students and alumni and visit campus to capture the culture and spirit of the program and see if it fits you.

–What is one thing you would change or do differently?
Honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing. The application preparation was a pivotal experience in my life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Embrace the journey, especially the shakes! You will learn a lot about yourself.

–What is one part you would have skipped if you could—and what helped you get through it?
Definitely the GMAT/GRE! The preparation was intense, but it taught me a lot about my own perseverance and determination.
