Age: 23
Hometown: Montreal, Canada
Undergraduate Institution and Major: McGill University, International Development Studies
Pre-MiM Work Experience: Consultant at EY

Why did you make the decision to attend business school? Why now?
After completing my undergraduate studies working at EY, I realized that to continue growing professionally and be a key contributor in the workplace, I needed to acquire core business skills that would complement my social science background. While my work in consulting provided strong problem-solving and client-facing experiences, I recognized gaps in areas like finance and data-driven decision-making that were essential for advancing my career. The MiM program stood out as the perfect opportunity to not only challenge myself, but also address these gaps.  Its focus on foundational business education, combined with its dynamic learning environment and opportunities to engage with industry leaders, offered the ideal platform for me to grow and develop my missing skills.

Why did you choose Georgetown McDonough? What factors figured most prominently into your decision of where to attend?
I chose Georgetown McDonough because it provides access to a lot of opportunities and resources due to not only its location, but also its very strong network. The proximity to international organizations think tanks and global institutions made it the perfect place for me to connect my undergraduate studies in International Development with my master’s program. The professors also value blending real-life experience with theory, by giving us access to inspiring events, such as guest lectures, conferences, and forums featuring global changemakers.

What do you think is your most valuable or differentiating contribution to the class?
Both my professional and personal experiences have equipped me with the tools necessary to foster inclusive conversations and bring unique insights to our discussions. I’m passionate about creating spaces where everyone’s voice is heard and valued.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that didn’t get included on your application:
A fun fact about me is that I’m really into hiking and had the chance to explore some amazing trails in the DMV area. It’s been a great way to connect with nature (especially during finals) and discover the region’s hidden gems.

Post-MiM career interests:
Upon graduating from the MiM program, I will be returning to EY as a Senior Consultant in the Business Transformation team!

Advice for Current Prospective Applicants:
–What is one thing you would absolutely do again as part of your application process?
One thing I would absolutely do again is the interview process. It made me feel like the school truly took the time to get to know me and gave me the opportunity to connect with an alum, showcasing how close-knit and diverse the alumni community is.

–What is one thing you would change or do differently?
One thing I would change is the limited academic connection between cohorts. However, the social club does a great job of bridging this gap by organizing activities outside of class, helping us build relationships and strengthen our community.

–What is one part you would have skipped if you could—and what helped you get through it?
The video presentation was challenging at first, and I had to redo it multiple times, but it gave me a great opportunity to showcase my personality! Staying authentic to myself helped me to not overthink my short presentation.

What is your initial impression of the Georgetown McDonough students/culture/community?
My initial impression of the Georgetown McDonough community is its incredible diversity and strong global perspective. The students are extremely welcoming, and the program culture promotes a collaborative environment that encourages learning from each other’s unique experiences.

What is one thing you have learned about Georgetown McDonough that has surprised you?

One thing that has surprised me about Georgetown McDonough is the amount of career opportunities and resources tailored to support students’ success based on their interests. The career services staff is always accessible and dedicated to your success and supporting you throughout your journey.
