The University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business has released their employment report for the MBA Class of 2024.

Of the 255 Haas MBA graduates, 207 sought employment post-MBA. By three months post-graduation, 86 percent of the students looking for jobs had received an offer of employment, and 84 percent accepted. More than 70 percent sourced job offers through school-facilitated activities. Entrepreneurs starting their own businesses instead of seeking employment made up 3.5 percent of the class. 

The reported median base annual salary is $160,000, close to the average $159,412 for the class. Seventy-two percent reported receiving a sign-on bonus, which averaged $34,740, and 21 percent received stock options in their hiring package with a median value of $75,000. 

Some of the top companies hiring from the Haas MBA graduates are Adobe, Amazon, McKinsey & Company, and Western Digital.

Industry Placement

The consulting industry edged out tech for Haas MBAs for the second time in the last decade, recruiting 25.4 percent of the class vs. 24.3 percent for technology jobs. The median base salary reported for consulting work was $190,000 while the average landed at $178,051. For tech, the median salary landed at $150,000 while the average clocked in at $154,167. Financial services hired 15.6 percent of graduates at a median salary of $162,500 (average $164,905). The healthcare industry recruited 7.5 percent of the class, and tied to round out the top five were energy and consumer products, with 6.4 percent of grads entering each of those sectors.

Regional Placement

Haas graduates have significant advantages in the U.S. West Coast job market between the school’s location and the extent of its network, and 78 percent of the MBA Class of 2024 are continuing their careers there. The Northeast region became home to 9.2 percent of the class and the Midwest 2.9 percent. Just 1.2 percent moved to the Mid-Atlantic, South, and Southwest regions, none of which had enough data to report salaries. West Coast hires reported a $165,000 median base salary; in the Northeast, it was $171,000, and in the Midwest, $135,000.
