Why did you make the decision to attend business school? Why now?
These last years I achieved important things in my life, from operating my first company as a partnership entrepreneur, a great experience as an outstanding investment advisor in the largest bank in Peru and also going through a local MBA in my country. However, as my goals changed for different reasons, my strategy had to change as well. A top MBA, international experience and global exposure were the tools I considered necessary for my next steps.

Why did you choose HEC Paris? What factors figured most prominently into your decision of where to attend?
Before deciding to pursue a top MBA, I had the pleasure of watching many friends enjoy similar experiences as students at great business schools in the U.S. and Europe. The search for the right school is a difficult step, but also the best part of the pre-MBA journey. After many coffee chats with current students, alumni, and coaches, I realized that the French experience, post-MBA results, and one of the best alumni communities would be valuable factors in my path. I am living this experience with my partner, so having the opportunity to live on the HEC campus definitely drove the decision.

What do you think is your most valuable or differentiating contribution to the Class of 2026?
As I indicated during my application, my sense of community and willingness to help are non-negotiable offers. As an entrepreneur, you realize that every part of the enterprise is important to the bottom line, and taking care of the balance is a challenging task. My life as an MBA student is like that; I want to optimize the synergy to find the best future for my cohort and myself.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that didn’t get included on your application:
Well, I learned some French as a teenager but never used it, so every weekend is an opportunity for me to finally practice the language and fall in love with the culture. Connect the dots!

Post-MBA career interests:
Leverage my financial experience and look for a jump in my professional career.

Advice for Current Prospective Applicants:
–What is one thing you would absolutely do again as part of your application process?
Networking, networking and networking. Just ask for that call. You never know.

–What is one thing you would change or do differently?
Start my preparation for the exam (GMAT or GRE) with an error bloc. Somewhere where you can record your failures in order to improve strategically.

–What is one part you would have skipped if you could—and what helped you get through it?
I can’t think of one. Usually, the most demanding part is test prep (GMAT or GRE). Actually that becomes one of the processes where you acquire more skills. I don’t recommend skipping it.

What is your initial impression of the HEC Paris students/culture/community?
French Style from day one. A new community of cultural expressions. It has been great. Every day I learn new, non-academic things from my classmates. We all embrace a sense of community, we support each other.

What is one thing you have learned about HEC Paris that has surprised you?
They organize the largest school integration event in Europe, it is called MBAT and consists of a very demanding sporting competition in many fields between large business schools. It is a great opportunity to expand your network in a highly competitive environment.

What is one thing you are most anxious about in your first year?
Make the right decisions and take advantage of the experience as much as I can.

What is one thing you are most excited about in your first year?
Learn, but not only in academics. Absorb all the insights that are present in everyday life. Enjoy every part of the journey.
