The employment report for the Yale School of Management’s (SOM) MBA Class of 2024 is now live. Of the 339 graduates, 282 (83.2 percent) sought employment; 239 (84.8 percent) were successful in receiving job offers while 229 (81.2 percent) accepted them. Of the 54 students not seeking employment, 21 were company sponsored and 18 started their own businesses. Another 10 graduates continued their education.

“While we are navigating a time of change throughout global economies, there continues to be healthy and robust demand for MBA talent. Yale MBA students have leveraged this demand to find meaningful opportunities across diverse industries,” said Abigail Kies, Assistant Dean of Career Development, in the report.

The median salary for the class returned to 2022 levels, coming in at $160,000. This was complemented by a median signing bonus of $30,000. 

Industry & Regional Placement

Breaking down the employment landscape by industry, consulting stayed at the top for Yale SOM graduates. Nearly 32 percent joined the industry, though it represents a significant dip from the 44.1 percent placement for the Class of 2023. Their median base salary landed at $190,000–the same as last year. The finance sector attracted 26.2 percent of the class, a four percent increase over last year, with median salaries ranging from $128,000 to $175,000. Technology took in nearly 10 percent of graduates with a median base salary of $146,600. Healthcare/pharmaceuticals hired 6.1 percent of grads, who secured a median $140,000 base salary. CPG & energy rounded out the top industries, each taking in nearly five percent of recent graduates. Median salaries for these two industries landed at $123,500 and $130,000, respectively.

Nearly 90 percent of full-time hires in the Yale SOM MBA Class of 2024 landed in the United States. Roughly 10 percent headed abroad, with Asia being the most popular international destination at nearly six percent. Another two percent settled in Canada.

Nearly 43 percent of the class stayed in the Northeast U.S., reporting a median salary of $175,000. The West became home for 20.3 percent of the Yale SOM MBA Class of 2024. Their median annual earnings were reported at $156,625. The Mid-Atlantic region hosts 11.3 percent of graduates, earning a median annual salary of $145,000. Nearly seven percent settled in the Midwest U.S. while five percent headed to the Southwest. Finally, 3.5 percent chose to work in the South U.S. The Southwest region had the highest median salary, at $189,000. Midwest settlers reported a median salary of $165,000 followed by $117,500 in the South.
