The Stern School of Business at NYU Abu Dhabi (Stern at NYUAD) has been officially inaugurated.

Stern at NYUAD has launched its first program: a fully-accredited, one-year, full-time MBA. The degree is jointly conferred by NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU Stern, the highest globally-ranked business school to offer a full-time MBA in UAE and MENA.

The inauguration is the latest step in NYU Abu Dhabi’s 15-year track record of academic achievement. Rima Al Mokarrab described the launch as a “testament to the dynamic and longstanding partnership between NYU and Abu Dhabi.” It is, she says, a demonstration of their “mutual commitment to cultivating innovators and leaders of tomorrow.” This new facet of NYU and Abu Dhabi’s collaboration will influence Abu Dhabi’s status as a “hub for business and innovation” and pave the way for “cutting-edge research.”

Stern at NYUAD marked the inauguration with a formal ceremony. HE Khaldoon Al Mubarak attended, alongside Rima Al Mokarrab, Linda G. Mills, and many other members of University leadership and UAE officials.

Fabio Piano, Vice Chancellor of NYUAD, explained that the MBA program “will help fuel the knowledge economy of the UAE.” It will do so “by preparing graduates to lead with purpose, innovation, and a global mindset.”

Stern at NYUAD’s MBA Program and Faculty

Stern’s inaugural MBA program matches the rigor of two-year MBAs—giving professionals the opportunity to accelerate their careers—while delivering results in just one year. The program is both international and immersive; the former, due to its dual-city approach, whereby it offers modules in both Abu Dhabi and New York City; the latter, due to the experiential projects the program runs with its world-leading corporate partners (for example, Microsoft, Hub 71, ADGM, and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi). The program’s faculty are highly impressive, too. They hold PhDs from world-leading business schools, and Stern at NYUAD recruited many of them from internationally-renowned academic and professional institutions.

Stern at NYUAD has appointed Robert Salomon as the program’s Dean. With over 25 years of experience in global strategy, Salomon has held the role of Stern faculty since 2005. He describes the new MBA program as “transformative.” It blends “NYU’s global network, Stern’s reputation for academic excellence, and Abu Dhabi’s strategic position as a global business hub.” The goal, he says, is to “equip the next generation of leaders with the academic tools, skills, and perspectives necessary to harness innovation and shape the future of global business.”

The excellence demonstrated by the inaugural MBA’s content and faculty is matched by the 54 candidates of the program. The cohort is truly exceptional; they represent 25 countries, boast an average GPA of 3.6, and hold an average of five years of professional experience. Many of the roles that candidates previously held were in world-leading companies and public sector organizations. These include KPMG, JP Morgan, and the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, to name but a few.
