Tips for Ask Clear Admit: A Prompt Guide

This guide will help you get the most out of Ask Clear Admit, our chatbot designed to provide expert MBA admissions advice. Trained on two decades of Clear Admit content, the bot delivers well-researched responses and relevant links for further reading.

Below are some tips on how to craft effective prompts.

Tip #1: Comparing MBA Programs

If you are comparing two or more MBA programs in a specific area of focus, Ask Clear Admit can provide insightful responses. However, the order in which you list schools may impact the results. To get a well-rounded comparison, try reordering the schools in your prompt.

Example:
Can you compare Tuck and Wharton for strategy consulting?
Can you compare Wharton and Tuck for strategy consulting?
For strategy consulting, how do Wharton and Tuck compare?

Because the bot identifies the most relevant content based on keyword order, small adjustments to your wording may yield more nuanced responses.

Tip #2: Using Multiple Prompts

Ask Clear Admit is conversational, meaning follow-up questions can refine your results.

  • If you are not satisfied with an answer, try rephrasing your prompt or asking the bot to reconsider:
“Can you try again?” or “Are you sure?”
  • Experiment with different wording, as seen in the Comparing MBA Programs section, may also result in varied responses with new information.

Tip #3: Profile Reviews

While the bot cannot calculate your exact odds of admission, it can provide a profile review if you include key details.

Can you tell me my chances of getting into an M7 program? → The bot will say it cannot.
Can you review my profile for MBA programs and offer some feedback as well as potential schools I should target? I have a 705 on the GMAT Focus Edition and an undergraduate degree in art history from a top liberal arts college (think Williams/Amherst/Swarthmore) where I earned a 3.5 GPA. I have 4 years of work experience – all with the same company, which is an EdTech software startup. In my role, I have been leading a team of 12 team members in the development of our first, and flagship product. In my spare time, I write music and sing and play guitar in an indie rock band. We have toured and played many concerts. I was very active in college as the station manager at the college radio station, as a booking agent/promoter for the school’s music venue, and working in the art history department to help prepare slides. My career goal is to start my own company, ideally in the EdTech space, as I am passionate about the intersection of technology and education.→ The bot will provide useful insights.

Please note, you can post your profile details on MBA ApplyWire for a direct review from the Clear Admit team, and an opportunity to be reviewed on Clear Admit’s podcast, MBA Wire Taps.

Tip #4: Essay Reviews

You can paste your essay drafts into the bot and specify which MBA program it is for. The bot will offer general feedback—useful for a first-round review, though less detailed than what an admissions consultant might provide.

You can also request guidance on specific essays.

I need detailed guidelines for Stern’s essays. Let’s start with Essay 1. What’s the word limit? How should I structure it? What should I include or avoid? What tone should I use?

Tip #5: Application Deadlines, Interview Invites & Decision Timelines

The bot can provide application deadlines and final decision release dates since MBA programs publish these in advance. The bot may not be able to predict interview invite dates, as schools rarely disclose them ahead of time.

To track real-time invite trends, check MBA LiveWire and filter for previous seasons. Schools generally follow similar timelines each year.

If you have any other questions, just ask! The more specific your prompt, the better the bot’s response will be.

Happy chatting!
