I am an international candidate (India) and applied in the Early Action Round. The admission committee offered to interview me in Mumbai, India before their Information Session on November 02, 2011. I was notified about the interview approximately one week before the interview date. The interviewer was very friendly, and was genuinely interested in ensuring a friendly conversation and reducing my anxiety / stress levels. We had a brief conversation about the interviewer’s stay in India and she told me about her background. She followed it with instructions on how the interview would last thirty minutes with she asking me most of the questions and leaving time in the end for any questions I have. The interview actually lasted for an hour.
Here is a gist of the questions that I was probed around.
- Walk me through your resume / Discussion around my career progression
- What is my leadership style and supporting examples.
- What are my long term goals, short term goals?
- Why MBA?
- Why Tuck?
- Discussion on a time I dealt with an unproductive employee (went into details of actions I took)
- How will I contribute to Tuck in the class / outside of class? (went into details of my professional experiences)
- How will my team mates perceive me – strengths / weaknesses?
- Talk about your accomplishments.
- We discussed any concerns Tuck might have about my candidacy
- Do you have any questions for me
- Anything that I wanted to share but was not covered in the conversation
Overall the interviewer was very warm and pleasant throughout the interview. Talking with her and the other alum at the evening session, I knew that I will absolutely love spending time there. The ClearAdmit Interview guide, Adam Markus’ Blog, and ClearAdmit Wiki were helpful resources . Most importantly, I was being myself throughout the interview and did not try to be a super-hero. Be sure about your commitment to attend Tuck and your interview will go fine.
All the best to all other applicants.
