I wanted to share because my interview was way more intense than anything I’d read about. I had heard that NYU Stern interviews were laid back and more conversational than at other schools but my interview was nothing like that. Questions were very behavioral in nature and I felt a bit caught off guard. Sort of felt like a “quiz” compared to other b-school interviews I have had. On a positive note, I thought it was very well planned because when you show up at admissions they give you a t-shirt and a folder about your areas of interest.
Some questions I was asked:
- Asked about my exact career progression
- Why Stern
- What I would do for my summer internship
- Three strengths and three weaknesses
- Example of a failure
- Example of a group project that failed
- Example of working in a group with someone difficult
- Example of a difficult situation
- My role on a team
- Examples of negative feedback I’ve gotten
- An example of innovative ideas I have had in my field
- Quizzed on my field of interest
- More questions I can’t remember – have blocked them out of my mind!
Result: About 3-4 weeks later, I was waitlisted. Removed myself from waitlist because of other acceptances and honestly, the interview totally turned me off of the school!
