Prep: Clearadmit wiki, GMATClub, friends, my fiancée (who is a Dale Carnegie course grad)
Atmosphere: The interview was held at the interviewer’s office. Its in a fairly large building, so after he picked me up at security we got to have a nice informal chat as we walked up to his desk. This was great for setting the mood as the rest of the interview was very conversational.
Questions:
- Why Columbia?
- Why MBA?
- Career goals?
- He challenged me a bit on my career goals and we had some back and forth where I defended them and illustrated my knowledge of the field.
- He commented on my limited work experience and asked me to discuss that.
- What extra curriculars will I get involved with?
- How does Columbia rank with the rest of the schools I was applying to?
Overall: Its a bit difficult to get all the questions in because so much of it was back and forth follow-ups rather than going down a list of set questions. We discussed a lot of different things including the interviewer talking about a lot of his experiences in his career and at Columbia. The energy was positive and great throughout the whole interview. Overall, I left the interview feeling great about not only my chances but geeked-up about Columbia in general.
