Harvard MBA Admissions Interview Questions: R1 / Alum / Admitted

The HBS alum met me in an office. He told me that he read everything except the Recs. He said HBS asked him to prob four areas and he told me upfront what they were.

The four were:

  1. An example of a conflict I was in that didn’t get resolved like I wanted it to be resolved.
  2. My strengths and weaknesses
  3. Typical responsibilities (describe one week at work)
  4. A professional setback. How I handled frustration.

We walked through all four. Typically he asked one-two follow ups for each topic. That took about 20-25 minutes. Then he started asking about life in my country of origin, what I felt immigrating to the US, how was the experience, why do I like to be where I am (geographically). Total interview time was 35 minutes. That’s all. No opportunity for me to ask him questions. At the very end he asked me where else I applied. Surprisingly, there was no “why HBS”, no “why now”, etc.

I was admitted on January 18Th. Good luck to everyone, hope it helps!
