First, I want to thank everyone before me who has posted here on Clear Admit. Pretty much every question I was asked has already been documented on this page, so I felt I was truly prepared when I went in.
I met my alum at a Starbucks a few blocks from my house. It turns out that he lives one neighborhood away from me, which made for a great icebreaker. We met Saturday afternoon – me in a suit and tie, him in jeans. The whole interview was very relaxed and informal, and he made sure to put me at ease at all times. The interview lasted about 1 hour and 20 minutes, which I’m going to take as a good sign. At least I hope so. The questions are below:
- Walk me through your resume.
- Stopped to talk about a bunch of my internships which weren’t on my resume
- Why MBA?
- Why now instead of maybe 3 years ago?
- Why Kellogg?
- Tell me about if/how you give back to the community. (stressing that Kellogg gives you lots of opportunities to give back)
- Tell me about an experience where your team failed.
- Do you have direct people leadership experience? (I’ve had lots of experience managing without authority)
Beyond that, we just spent a lot of time talking about each others jobs. He let me ask lots of questions about his career progression. We demoed each others cell phones (since I talked about mobile computing), then got into an informal discussion about pricing strategies at each others’ companies. It ended up being a fun experience. Now I hope to hear back some positive news.
I wish everyone good luck with their Kellogg interviews!
