A member of the Admissions Committee conducted my interview. In general, the interview struck a good balance; it was professional and challenging, while at the same time amiable and relaxed.
Interview questions:
1. Briefly walk me through your resume.
2. What are your post-MBA career goals?
3. Why do you want an MBA and why now?
4. Have you considered Kellogg’s 1-Y program?
5. Why do you want to attend Kellogg?
6. How do you motivate people on a team?
7. How will you take a leadership role in campus organizations?
8. How will you work with the other students at Kellogg?
9. What are your interests outside of work?
10. Q&A
The interview took about 45 minutes. It was a bit more challenging than some other interviews because the Kellogg interviewer made me work a bit harder at selling my candidacy and defending my statements. Beyond the standard resume and why MBA questions, the remaining questions were focused primarily on leadership and teamwork (with slightly more emphasis on leadership). The interviewer also asked about my personal interests and seemed interested in my answers. Overall the interview was a positive and informative experience. It’s clear from the interview that the school is genuinely interested in who the candidates are as both individuals and professionals. The interview experience really backed up Kellogg’s reputation as a school that emphasizes teamwork as well as leadership in a collegial setting.
