I was the first interview of the day, in an Asia Hub location. We started with some very friendly chit chat about the city and the admissions committee member’s travels and experiences, for about 5 minutes before jumping into the interview. First, he outlined the structure of the interview and gave his brief background, noting that the interview is blind, i.e. he had not reviewed by application unless incidentally during the initial filtering. He then asked the following:
- Walk me through your resume
- Tell me about a time when you managed a team and one person was less motivated
- Tell me about a time when you managed someone senior to you
- Tell me about a time when you participated in a successful negotiation
- Why do you want an MBA and why now? (I wove in Why Wharton as well)
- Do you have any questions for me? (I asked three)
I answered thoroughly each time and he did not interject or ask follow up questions. However we had a friendly dialogue as he was answering my questions. The overall vibe was excellent, and the interview lasted 45 minutes (going over by 15 minutes).
Thank you very much to everyone who contributed before me, you made a huge difference in my performance. I wish all of you the best of luck in your interviews!
