I got there on time, submitted my resume and spent a few minutes waiting before the interview. There were other applicants and it was obvious that most people were nervous. Right on time, the interviewer called my name and we initially made small talk about where I had travelled from and how my journey was. He then introduced himself, what he had been doing and what his interests were. He then asked me to start off by telling him about myself. When I started talking about my work experience, he started asking explicit details about the work I had done and for how long. He wanted to know exactly at what point that I started thinking about an MBA and my need for it. I had prepared for this so I gave him my answers. One thing I noticed was that he wrote every little statement that I wrote so I think it is really important that everything you say is what is in your application. The rest of the questions were:
- questions about my current employment and what I have found interesting about the work (I tried to link it to my interests and strengths)
- where would you go after you are done with the MBA
- why wharton? When I mentioned about the curriculum, he asked for specific courses that interested me.
- why now?
- Strengths/weaknesses?
- any additional thing I would like to add to my application? I talked about the clubs I was interested in to help give back to the Wharton community
- questions for him?
He stayed within the 30 mins and overall I think it was a good interview.I kept smiling and I was totally relaxed and I think it made the interview very conversational.
