The Rotman full-time MBA is a two-year program designed to be completed with 16 months of classwork and a four-month paid internship. Prior to joining the 20-month program, students can choose to participate in the MBA Pre-Program, which consists of several preparatory academic courses as well as workshops on communication skills and leadership. These take place over the course of three weeks in August. Subsequently, students attend Orientation, a two-day event during which students learn about the resources available at Rotman, followed by Orientation Camp, a weekend retreat hosted by second-year students. International students attend International Students Orientation Week prior to the pre-program to gain a better understanding of Canadian business culture.
In the first year, students complete the core curriculum over four terms. In the first three seven-week terms, students take courses that introduce them to the school’s methodology for problem-solving and decision-making. These courses cover topics such as management, accounting, statistics, and economics. In the fourth term, students take an accounting course and three electives to prepare for a summer internship or their second year. .
In the second year of study, Rotman students may choose 1 of 15 MBA majors, including disciplines such as brand management or sustainability, or simply choose from among the more than 100 electives available. Whether they choose a major or not, students must complete two required courses: Model-Based Decision Making in Practice, the program’s Capstone, and Ethics in the second year.
In addition to coursework, full-time MBA students participate in the flexible internship program, which allows students to take an internship after their first year.
