Harvard Business School (HBS) Managing Director of MBA Admissions and Financial Aid Chad Losee took to his admissions blog yesterday to share some reflections as Round 1 on-campus interviews draw to a close. “Many of you told me that you were pleasantly surprised (and relieved) that the interviews were personal, conversational, and substantive,” he wrote. “That’s music to my ears, and I hope it was true for all of you. We are really aiming to get to know you.”
Losee, who graduated from HBS himself just a few years ago (MBA ’13), went on to say that speaking with applicants as part of the interview process reminded him of how much he learned from classmates while a student. “In the process of getting to know you, I felt the added bonus of learning so much from you—about your industries, the projects or deals you’ve worked on, the challenges you’ve overcome, your aspirations for the future, your perspectives on leadership and the role of business for good in our world,” he wrote.
He went on to urge U.S. Round 1 applicants to enjoy the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. Whether celebrating Thanksgiving or not, all Round 1 applicants can relish in the fact that their work is now done even as his continues, he pointed out. “Before you know it, December 14th and final Round 1 decisions will be here,” Losee added.
Losee hasn’t been quite as prolific yet in his Direct from the Director Blog as predecessor Dee Leopold was, but we think it’s only fair to cut him a little slack as he goes through the application cycles for his very first time. We’re happy to see this update and hope he’ll continue checking in regularly with applicants via the blog in the weeks and months ahead.
