London Business School Announces New Full-Time MBA Scholarships
Kumar Mangalam Birla, Aditya Birla Group chairman and London Business School alumnus, has gifted his alma mater with a £15 million endowment, the largest endowed scholarship gift to a European business school.
The program recognizes high-achieving MBAs who demonstrate leadership potential and honors the legacy of celebrated industrialist, philanthropist, and pioneer Basant Kumar (BK) Birla (1921–2019), who viewed higher education as a fundamental right for everyone. The eponymous BK Birla Scholars Program will fund 10 full scholarships for five full-time MBA students from India and five from the rest of the world. To be eligible, students must rank in the top five percent of the class, beginning with the cohort starting in the Fall of 2019.
“It is an incredible gift to be able to honor B.K. Birla’s memory with this prestigious scholars program,” said François Ortalo-Magné, Dean of LBS.

Tuck Interview Dates Announced
Dartmouth Tuck just announced dates for all rounds of applicant-initiated and invitational interviews.
Applicant-initiated interviews can be scheduled before or after an MBA candidate submits their application. They are only available on campus in Hanover and are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Invitational interviews occur after Tuck reviews your application and then invites you to campus if admissions believes an interview is necessary. These interviews can be conducted either on campus or virtually, based on the applicant’s preference.

- Round 1: September 6, 2019 – November 1, 2019
- Round 2: September 6, 2019 – January 31, 2020
- Round 3: September 6, 2019 – April 2, 2020
- Round 1 Consortium: September 6, 2019 – November 1, 2019

Invitational Interviews
- Round 1: October 8, 2019 – December 11, 2019

Tuck releases invitations on a rolling basis, most often at least one to two weeks before receiving your admissions decision.

MIT Sloan Introduces Five New Faculty Members
MIT Sloan profiled five new professors who are making waves this year in everything from social science experiments to the sharing economy.
Abdullah Almaatouq
Assistant professor of information technology, Abdullah Almaatouq, has a Ph.D. in computational science and engineering from MIT. His current research focuses on decision-making in network environments. Learn more about him here.
Daniel Freund
Assistant professor of operations management, Daniel Freund, has a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Cornell University and was a research fellow at Lyft Marketplace Labs. His research focuses on the sharing economy and the complex decision-making problems it faces. Learn more on his faculty page.
Alexandre Jacquillat
With a Ph.D. in engineering systems from MIT, Alexandre Jacquillat is an assistant professor of operations research and statistics. Jacquelyn Pless
Jacquelyn Pless is an assistant professor of technological innovation, entrepreneurship, and strategic management. She has a Ph.D. in mineral and energy economics from the Colorado School of Mines.
