Chat Recap: Learn How to Gain Admission to NYU Stern
Holly Curtis, Director of MBA Admissions, and Catherine DiMarzo, Associate Director of MBA Admissions, also hosted a chat on October 10th about how to get into NYU Stern.
In the chat, they discussed:

Q: For candidates applying through the Consortium, what are the characteristics of those that get admitted with a fellowship vs. those getting admitted without it?
Holly Curtis: Our review process is very holistic and we consider all applicants for merit based scholarship – including the Consortium Fellowship. There are a variety of reasons why one might receive an award, including a strong academic profile, commitment to the mission of the Consortium and to Stern, and strong professional experience
Q: Since there are so many deadlines or Rounds to choose from – Do you have any advice on how to choose or which is preferred when considering when to submit an application?
Holly Curtis: Happy to answer! My advice is to apply when you will have the strongest application! Applications are evaluated by the same criteria regardless of the deadline met. The only advantage to applying earlier is that you will hear back earlier. We issue notifications continuously and the options for an initial notification are: invitation to interview, waitlist, deny. So if that means a pending promotion at work, retaking the test, or refining your essays, it might be in your interest to wait until a later deadline. We accept applicants across all four deadlines.
Q: Thank you for your time Holly and Catherine! Can you share about how students can leverage greater NYU community during their MBA?
Holly Curtis: Yes! There are several different ways students can take advantage of the NYU community. MBA students can take up to 25% of their courses at another NYU school (such as the School of Law, Tandon School of Engineering, etc.). With an NYU ID, students are also able to access all NYU buildings like the Bobst Library and the two fitness centers. All NYU students can also get discounted tickets to plays, museums, etc. as well as other fun activities around the city.
From an entrepreneurial standpoint, students can access the Leslie eLab, which is a hub of entrepreneurship at NYU. You can connect with students across schools to collaborate on business ideas and attend workshops. I’ll also mention restaurants and cafes around the area sometimes have an NYU student discount.
